Does dairy change Doryx 100 mg DR?

Yes, a measured change exists. After a single 100 mg Doryx tablet with a high-fat meal that included milk, mean Cmax was 24% lower and AUC 0-infinity was 13% lower than fasting. The label calls the clinical significance unknown. The same file says doxycycline absorption is not markedly influenced by food or milk, and milk is allowed if gastric irritation occurs. Antacids and iron remain a separate binding row.

01When is milk an allowed swallow, not a clash?

Forest-green still life: milk glass set far from a capsule

If gastric irritation occurs, doxycycline may be given with food or milk. That is a stomach-comfort row. It is not a recipe for washing the tablet down with a calcium antacid.

The everyday cation clock - dairy as a wash, antacids, iron - lives on the meal-spacing pulse. This probe stays on the 100 mg meal numbers and the milk-for-irritation line.

02Why does counselling say milk does not markedly change absorption?

Patient counselling states that tetracycline absorption falls with calcium-rich food, then adds that doxycycline absorption is not markedly influenced by food or milk. That sentence is why a burning stomach can take Doryx with food or milk.

Markedly is the label's word. The 24% Cmax drop still sits in Clinical Pharmacology. Both sentences are true on the same file. This page holds that tension. It does not pick a winner.

03What did the 100 mg Doryx food-effect study actually print?

Single-dose Doryx 100 mg with a high-fat meal including milk: mean Cmax 24% lower, mean AUC 13% lower than fasted. The 150 mg tablet in that same paragraph lost 19% Cmax with an unchanged AUC. The 200 mg tablet's bioavailability was not affected by food, though nausea was higher when people fasted.

Those percents belong to Doryx delayed-release tablets. They are not a promise that a latte erases the dose. They are also not permission to ignore calcium when the product is a different doxycycline form.

04Are aluminum antacids the same problem as milk?

No. Absorption of tetracyclines, including Doryx, is impaired by antacids that contain aluminum, calcium, or magnesium, by bismuth subsalicylate, and by iron. That is Drug Interactions 7.3. It is a binding list, not a high-fat breakfast study.

Keep antacids on the antacid and iron probe. Do not merge those hours into this meal-percent page.

05Does the label give hours to wait after a glass of milk?

No wait clock is written for milk on Doryx. The file gives percents, an unknown-significance clause, and permission to use milk if the stomach burns. Inventing a two-hour dairy gap for this product would be a made-up row.

If the bottle insert in hand prints a different food line, follow that insert. DailyMed is the file this page read.

06Why mention the 200 mg tablet on a 100 mg DR page?

Because the same food paragraph shows the 200 mg tablet can be given without regard to meals, with more nausea when fasted. That contrast keeps people from treating every doxycycline strength as the 100 mg 24% figure.

This vault still locks 100 mg delayed-release. Do not step up to 200 mg once daily unless the written indication uses that 7-day chlamydia alternate.

Yves B. Do I have to skip breakfast on Doryx 100 mg DR?

Vault reply

No fasting command is written. A high-fat meal with milk lowered 100 mg Cmax 24% and AUC 13%. Clinical significance unknown. Milk is allowed if the stomach burns.

Clara T. Can I use a calcium chew as my milk stand-in?

Vault reply

No. Calcium antacids sit on the impaired-absorption list. That is a different row from food or milk for irritation.

Nils A. Where is the latte-and-iron clock?

Vault reply

On the meal-spacing pulse. This page keeps the 100 mg meal percents.
