Does Clomid 50 mg raise the chance of twins?

Yes. The insert tells clinicians to say there is an increased chance of multiple pregnancy when conception follows clomiphene, including rare combined tubal and intrauterine pregnancies. Among reported pregnancies in the clinical program, multiples were 7.98%: 6.9% twin, 0.5% triplet, 0.3% quadruplet, 0.1% quintuplet. Those are trial figures, not a shop promise.

01What survival looked like in the trial table

Forest-green still life: two small marks on a cycle card

Live single births in that table had a 98.16% infant survival figure. Multiple births (165) sat at 83.26% (DailyMed) / 83.25% (Sanofi table). Overall survival of infants from multiple pregnancies, counting miscarriages, stillbirths, and neonatal deaths, was 73%.

Spontaneous abortion was 20.4% and stillbirth 1.0% among known outcomes. The insert also says available data do not show a higher miscarriage or anomaly rate than the background population when the drug is used as indicated.

02How 6.9% twin sits inside that figure

Twin pregnancies were 6.9% of the reported set. Triplets 0.5%, quadruplets 0.3%, quintuplets 0.1%. Of 165 twin pregnancies with enough detail, monozygotic to dizygotic was about 1 to 5.

A sextuplet birth was reported after the original studies; none of those infants survived (each under 400 g).

03Why a shop percentage is not this table

Forums invent higher or lower twin rates to sell a strip. This page uses the labelled clinical-program fractions only. No extra percentage is added.

Fifty milligrams does not let you pick twins. It raises the chance of more than one. Pair with clomiphene 50 mg and the cycle-timing pulse for the calendar, not for a number.

04When counseling happens before the first tablet

Hazards of multiple pregnancy should be explained up front. So should the goal: ovulation, then pregnancy, not an open-ended 50 mg habit.

Ultrasound after a positive test is how a clinic sees number and location. The monitor probe is the exam page. This page is the multiple-gestation talk.

05What 7.98% of reported pregnancies were

7578 patients received clomiphene in the investigations. 2635 pregnancies were reported. Outcome detail existed for 2369. Multiples were 7.98% of reported pregnancies.

Counseling belongs before the first 50 mg tablet. Complications of a multiple pregnancy are part of that talk, not a surprise at the dating scan.

06Why tubal-plus-uterine pregnancy is also named

The patient-information list includes bilateral tubal pregnancy and coexisting tubal and intrauterine pregnancy. Multiple gestation is not only twins in one uterus.

Ectopic pregnancies were counted inside the wastage notes (28 ectopics among the tabulated outcomes). A positive test still needs a location, not only a home strip.

Greta W. Can I take 50 mg and avoid twins if I skip a follicle scan?

Vault reply

Skipping ultrasound does not lower the labelled multiple-pregnancy chance. It only hides number and location.

Harun P. Is 6.9% my personal risk this cycle?

Vault reply

It is the twin share among reported trial pregnancies, not a calculator for one person.

Iona L. Shop page said 20% twins on 50 mg.

Vault reply

That is not this table. The insert's twin figure in the clinical program is 6.9% of reported pregnancies.
