How long do you stay on finasteride 1 mg?

Stay on it. Continued use is recommended to sustain benefit on finasteride 1 mg, and that benefit should be re-evaluated periodically. Withdrawal of treatment leads to reversal of effect within 12 months. Finpecia 1 mg is not a 90-day course you finish and file. This page is about staying. Photograph percentages live on another probe.

01Is Finpecia 1 mg a 90-day finish?

Forest-green still life: twelve photo frames empty, tablet in front

No. Export pack size is not a labelled stop date. If you stop because the blister ran out, the 12-month reversal clock starts. Refill the 1 mg INN if you meant to stay.

A US generic bottle of 30 or 90 is still one tablet a day. Count is logistics. Duration is daily exposure.

02Who decides to stay past year one?

The man and the clinician, using the labelled re-evaluation line. Sexual effects, mood, or a pregnancy plan in the house can end the course earlier. There is no labelled taper.

Staying 'to be safe' without a hair indication is not this vault's job. The 1 mg vault keeps the indication row.

03What a delayed start did to hair count

Men who spent the first year on placebo and then started PROPECIA gained hair, but the 1-year gain sat at 56 hairs above original baseline versus 91 in men who started on drug. Starting later still worked. It did not catch the earlier absolute count.

That is a reason to treat the first year as real time, not as a free sample you can postpone without cost to the count.

04What reversal means after a stop

Withdrawal of treatment leads to reversal of effect within 12 months. That is the labelled exit clock for hair, not a taper schedule.

Men who switched from PROPECIA to placebo after the first year lost the hair-count gain by month 24. The stop note stays on that exit.

05Why the label asks for ongoing daily use

Dosage says continued use is recommended to sustain benefit. The enzyme block is not a permanent reset of the follicle. Miss enough days and you are no longer on the course the trials measured.

Re-evaluation is a clinic job: still the right man, still the hair indication, still tolerable. It is not a second loading dose.

06What vertex hair counts did after a year

In the two vertex studies, the 12-month hair-count gap versus placebo was 107 hairs inside a 1-inch circle (PROPECIA n=679, placebo n=672). That is a count, not a bathroom mirror.

Maximum improvement versus baseline arrived during the first 2 years in men who stayed on. This page will not paste the photograph-panel percents; those have their own URL.

Vault consult

Answers follow the U.S. Propecia label.

Felix N. If I like the hair at month four, can I stop Finpecia 1 mg?

Vault reply

Continued use is recommended to sustain benefit. Withdrawal reverses effect within 12 months. A good month-four look is not a labelled stop date.

Chiara L. Is a 90-count bottle the full course?

Vault reply

No. Ninety tablets are a supply. The labelled course is daily 1 mg for as long as you and the clinician keep the hair indication.

Dev A. I started a year late. Did I miss the only window?

Vault reply

Men who began after a placebo year still gained count, 56 hairs above original baseline after a year on drug versus 91 in the earlier starters. Late is not zero. It is a smaller absolute count.
