Is Finpecia the same as finasteride 1 mg?

Yes, when the carton prints finasteride 1 mg. Finpecia is a Cipla brand name. Propecia is the US brand people still type. Both point at the same INN and the same daily milligram for male pattern hair loss in men. A color of foil is not a new 5-alpha-reductase story. A 5 mg print is the BPH product. A carton that will not name the INN cannot borrow the US 1 mg label.

01Why the strength still has to read 1 mg

Forest-green still life: export carton silhouette next to a US 1 mg tablet

Hair on the US label is 1 mg once daily. A 5 mg finasteride tablet is the BPH product. Same INN family, different labelled job and a different handling conversation if someone splits it.

Do not assume a 'Finpecia' search result is 1 mg. Read the print.

02Why people still type Propecia

Propecia is how US search and many scripts still name finasteride 1 mg. Generic 1 mg is what the window usually hands over. The enzyme target does not care which of those three strings you used at the keyboard.

A forum fight that treats Finpecia and Propecia as rival drugs is a naming fight. Check the milligram.

03Which labelled rules travel with the INN

Once daily, meals optional, three months or more before you judge hair, pregnancy handling for crushed tablets, PSA disclosure. Those travel with finasteride 1 mg. They do not reset because the box says Finpecia.

Sexual-effect frequencies live on the libido-line probe, not on this name check.

04What the ingredient line has to say

Look for finasteride and 1 mg. If either is missing, you do not have the vault's tablet. Marketing English on the flap is not an identity check.

The finasteride vault is written from the US 1 mg label. A carton that will not name the INN cannot borrow that label.

05What Cipla on a blister actually tells you

It tells you who branded that export pack. It does not invent a US NDC on this page. Supply chain and packaging still differ from a local generic bottle.

If you need a US fill, ask for finasteride 1 mg. The export-carton probe is the pharmacy-stock question.

06What to ask for if you want a local bottle

Ask the clinic to write finasteride 1 mg. Ask the pharmacist to fill that INN. You do not have to import a Cipla carton to be on the labelled hair milligram.

If a seller will not print manufacturer and 1 mg on the insert, do not treat it as this vault's tablet.

Vault consult

Answers follow the U.S. Propecia label.

Pavel Z. Is Finpecia a different hair drug from Propecia?

Vault reply

Not when both print finasteride 1 mg. Finpecia is a Cipla name. Propecia is the US brand search name. Check the INN and the milligram, not the ad.

Suki E. The foil is another color. Is that a stronger 1 mg?

Vault reply

No. Color is packaging. Strength is the 1 mg print. If the insert will not say finasteride 1 mg, it is not this page's tablet.

Bruno I. Can I use this page to prove Finpecia is FDA-approved in my state?

Vault reply

No. This page is an INN check. A US pharmacy fill is usually generic finasteride 1 mg. Approval and stock are not the same sentence as 'same ingredient'.
