01If you restart after a year away
Men who began drug after a placebo year still gained count, but the 1-year on-drug gain sat lower than in men who started immediately (56 versus 91 hairs above original baseline). Restart is possible. It is not a free return to the old absolute count.
Restart only if the hair indication still fits and the clinician agrees. The 1 mg vault keeps that indication.
02What the switch-off hair counts showed
Forty-eight men moved from PROPECIA to placebo at the end of the first 12 months. The increase in hair count reversed 12 months later, at 24 months.
That is a small extension arm, not a new trial. It matches the Dosage reversal sentence. The stay-on probe is the opposite job.
03When mood is the reason you stop
Depression, including suicidal ideation and behavior, is in the postmarketing psychiatric list. Hair gain does not outrank that. Call. The mood probe stays on those reports.
Finpecia 1 mg does not get a 'finish the pack first' rule when mood drops.
04Why there is no labelled 1 mg taper
The US 1 mg label does not print a step-down schedule. When you stop, you stop. Do not invent a 0.5 mg sprinkle by crushing tablets.
Crushing also reopens the pregnancy-handling warning. Whole tablets or none.
05Sexual symptoms after the last tablet
Postmarketing reports include sexual dysfunction that continued after discontinuation. The label does not attach a percent. Report what continues.
Resolution also occurred in men who stopped because of sexual effects during the trials. Both sentences can be true for different men.
06The 12-month reversal line
Dosage is blunt: withdrawal of treatment leads to reversal of effect within 12 months. The follicle is not permanently reset. Daily exposure was the course.
That clock is for hair. It is not a reason to stay on through a mood crash or a pregnancy-handling problem in the house.
