01Is UK pharmacy Viagra a US OTC stamp
No. FDA has not switched Viagra or generic sildenafil to over-the-counter status. A UK P-medicine carton does not change a US aisle.
Not without a written line is the US aisle page.
02Which strength Connect actually is
Connect is the 50 mg tablet. That happens to be the usual US labelled start. It is not a 25 mg UK OTC and not a 100 mg UK P pack.
This vault still features 25-50 mg on the US insert. A UK 50 mg consult is not a US 25 mg start for a 70-year-old on ritonavir.
03Why a US aisle still needs a written line
A US grocery shelf cannot copy a UK P rule. Licensed US pharmacies fill sildenafil 25 mg or 50 mg from a prescription.
Getting a US fill is that job.
04What MHRA moved to a P medicine
In November 2017 MHRA announced Viagra Connect 50 mg would move from POM to P after Commission on Human Medicines advice and a public consultation. Supply would be from pharmacies after a discussion with the pharmacist.
Men with severe cardiovascular disease, high CV risk, liver failure, severe kidney failure, or certain interacting medicines were to stay under a doctor.
05How a UK pharmacist consult differs from FDA OTC
A UK P medicine is sold in a pharmacy after the pharmacist decides supply is appropriate. General sales list (GSL) is the true supermarket class. Connect is P, not GSL.
US OTC would be an FDA switch. That switch has not happened.
06When a UK carton photo is not a US fill
A phone photo of Connect is literacy: 50 mg sildenafil, UK P class, pharmacist consult. It is not permission to skip a US prescriber.
The sildenafil 25-50 mg vault stays on the US 25-50 mg band.
