01Why the MS week-count is not a 10 mg pack
Acute MS exacerbations have a numbered row: 200 mg of prednisolone daily for a week, then 80 mg every other day for a month. The range is the same for prednisone and prednisolone. That is a specialist plan at huge daily totals, not the vault's 10 mg stamp.
Citing that week as 'the labelled burst' for every diagnosis is how people invent a length the insert never gave them.
02Why asthma packs are clinic plans
Short respiratory bursts are written with a last morning because that is how those clinics treat a flare. The insert did not print 'five days' as the prednisone 10 mg duration. Copying a neighbor's five-morning pack onto a different disease is a new course without a new look.
The prednisone vault still wants a written last day. That day comes from the clinician, not from this probe inventing 5.
03What 'usually four to ten days' applies to
In the alternate-day-therapy discussion, an initial suppressive dose is continued until a satisfactory response, usually four to ten days in the case of many allergic and collagen diseases. That window is for that setup, when a later every-other-morning plan is in view.
It is not a burst length for every 10 mg bottle. It is not an asthma-pack law. Do not tattoo 4-10 on a pneumonia course or a rash that was written for two mornings.
04What a written last day is
The last morning on the slip is the length that matters for that bottle. Refills without a new look can turn that length into months. Months trip the long-term withdraw rule.
If weeks piled up, use the taper pulse for the exit job. This page will not convert a mystery calendar into a stair.
05Why the daily milligram range is not a day count
Five to 60 mg per day is a starting-band sentence. It tells you how much might be written on morning one. It does not tell you how many mornings follow. Severity, response, and remissions or exacerbations all move the calendar after that.
If a reasonable period passes with no satisfactory response, the insert says discontinue and change therapy. 'Reasonable' is not printed as 3, 5, or 14.
06How this page will not invent 5 or 14
No universal burst poster. No 'most people take it for X days.' Indication first, then the written last morning. If the slip is missing a last morning, ask for one. Do not borrow a number from a search result.
The taper-when probe answers whether every course needs a stair. Different job. Different URL.
