Can prednisone 10 mg change mood or sleep?

Yes. Psychic derangements may appear, ranging from euphoria, insomnia, mood swings, personality changes, and severe depression to frank psychotic manifestations. Existing emotional instability or psychotic tendencies may be aggravated. A short 10 mg burst can still light that list. Night swallows make the insomnia row worse. Severe depression or psychosis skip this page. Do not add a second tablet to chase a wired or flat afternoon.

01What mood swings are not

Forest-green still life: sleepless lamp, tablet on the night shelf

They are not 'just the illness' and not 'just stress' until someone has looked. The tablet has its own psychiatric paragraph. Blaming only the rash or only the wheeze misses that paragraph.

Do not add a second 10 mg because you felt flat at noon. Flat can be the disease. It can also be the list. Extra milligrams are not a mood tool.

02Why existing instability can worsen

The insert says existing emotional instability or psychotic tendencies may be aggravated. Tell the clinician that history before the burst starts. Hiding it to 'get the pack' leaves the wrong person holding the bottle.

Family members often see the change first. A new 10 mg week is a fair time to believe them.

03What this page will not treat

This page will not pick an antidepressant and will not write a psychiatry referral from Barcelona. It will name the list so the 10 mg visit includes it.

The prednisone vault is the home page. Sleep timing sits on morning dosing.

04What the psychic list actually names

Euphoria. Insomnia. Mood swings. Personality changes. Severe depression. Frank psychotic manifestations. The paragraph is a range, not a promise that every 10 mg morning will feel like one of those words.

A later adverse-reaction block also names anxiety, irritability, restlessness, mania, hallucinations, and aggravation of pre-existing psychiatric conditions. Those are still labelled, not personality flaws.

05How insomnia meets a night swallow

Insomnia is on the list even when the tablet is taken in the morning. A bedtime 10 mg stacks that list with a dose at the adrenal trough. Move the swallow back to morning unless a split plan is written.

Alcohol on the same night stacks mood and sleep again. The alcohol probe owns that stack.

06When to call for severe depression or psychosis

Severe depression, hallucinations, or frank psychotic manifestations skip this probe. So does talk of self-harm. Those are urgent care, not a vault email.

Do not stop a long 10 mg course cold because the mood row scared you. Call. Abrupt withdrawal is the other labelled problem.

Vault consult

Answers follow the U.S. prednisone (Deltasone) label.

Oksana Melnyk I feel wired on day two of 10 mg. Is that labelled?

Vault reply

Euphoria, insomnia, and mood swings sit on the psychic list. A short burst can still light those words. Do not add a second tablet to chase the feeling.

Pere Casals I have an old depression history. Mention it?

Vault reply

Yes, before the burst starts. Existing emotional instability or psychotic tendencies may be aggravated. Hiding that history is a bad bargain for a 10 mg pack.

June Harlow Nightmares on a bedtime swallow. Switch the hour?

Vault reply

Once-daily plans belong in the morning prior to 9 am unless a split is written. Insomnia is already labelled. A night swallow makes that row easier to hit.
