What does a brand Flagyl 250 mg tablet look like?

Pfizer describes Flagyl 250 mg as a round, blue, film-coated tablet, with SEARLE and 1831 debossed on one side and FLAGYL and 250 on the other. Pfizer lists bottles of 50 (NDC 0025-1831-50) and 100 (NDC 0025-1831-31). Store below 25 C and protect from light. Generic metronidazole 250 mg tablets are often white and carry other codes. A photo of a blue tablet is not an identity check for a white generic. See the generic INN probe.

01How the brand bottle is stored

Forest-green still life: round blue-white tablet on a dark dish, no letters

Store below 25 C (77 F) and protect from light. That is the Flagyl storage line. Generic vials follow their own storage sentence. Read the bottle in your hand.

A bathroom window ledge is a poor place for a light-sensitive tablet. Keep the count away from children.

02What generic 250 mg bottles may show

DailyMed generic 250 mg examples include a white round tablet debossed PLIVA 333, and a white-to-off-white circular tablet debossed HP64. Those are manufacturer marks. The ingredient is still metronidazole 250 mg if the vial says so.

Do not reject a white tablet because a search image showed a blue Flagyl. Do not accept a tablet whose vial names a different milligram.

03Why a white generic can still be 250 mg

US generic metronidazole 250 mg tablets are not required to be blue. Identity is the vial strength plus a mark the pharmacist can confirm, not a single color you memorized from a brand photo.

If you filled online, the tablet should still match the labelled 250 mg product. BeSafeRx checks sit on the online-shop probe.

04What the Pfizer 250 mg tablet shows

Round, blue, film coated. SEARLE and 1831 on one face. FLAGYL and 250 on the other. That is the HOW SUPPLIED sentence for Flagyl 250 mg.

Inactive ingredients on the brand tablet include cellulose, FD&C Blue No. 2 Lake, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, stearic acid, and titanium dioxide. Blue color comes from that lake dye.

05How the 500 mg brand tablet differs

Flagyl 500 mg tablets are oblong, blue, and film coated, with FLAGYL on one side and 500 on the other. Bottles of 50 and 100 (NDC 0025-1821-50 and 0025-1821-31).

Do not use a 500 mg oblong tablet as if it were two 250 mg rounds unless the directions were written that way. 250 versus 500 is that job.

06What the stamp does not tell you

SEARLE 1831 names the 250 mg brand tablet. It does not tell you seven days versus a 2 g day. It does not tell you to drink or not to drink. Directions still come from the writer.

If the imprint does not match Flagyl 250 or a metronidazole 250 mg generic code you can confirm, ask the pharmacist before the first swallow. Do not guess from a forum chart.
