01When a side effect is not permission to quit
Metallic taste is listed and common enough to call 'not unusual'. Keep going unless you cannot keep tablets down. Coping sits on the taste pulse.
Neurologic symptoms - numbness, seizure, encephalopathy warnings - are stop-and-call events. A rash that could be SJS, TEN, or DRESS is stop and seek care. Those are not 'I felt better so I quit'.
02Why unused tablets are a future problem
Flagyl should be used only to treat or prevent infections proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. Stopping early and saving tablets trains the next infection and leaves you with a mystery blister.
If symptoms roar back after you finished every dose, that is a new visit - and a partner check if the diagnosis was trichomoniasis.
03What to do with a missed 250 mg tablet
The insert does not give a catch-up recipe such as 'double the next one'. Take the next scheduled 250 mg when you remember if the writer did not give other directions, and say how many doses were missed.
A missed day on a seven-day trichomoniasis row is still a call if you are not sure whether to extend. Do not invent an eighth day from a forum.
04Which day count you are finishing
Seven consecutive days if the row is trichomoniasis 250 mg three times daily. Five to ten days if the row is amebiasis at 500 or 750 mg three times daily. Seven to ten days for most serious anaerobic oral follow-on, longer for bone, lung, or endocardium.
Read the label on your bottle. Do not finish 'a week' because a search said Flagyl is always seven days. Course length lists the rows.
05What 'feel better early' is for
That counseling line exists so people do not pocket the last 250 mg tablets. Early relief is expected enough to mention. It is not a cure test you run on day three.
Onset and plasma peak live on days into the written course. The finish rule is the only job in this room.
06What skipping does, in the insert's two clauses
First, the current course may work less well. Second, bacteria may become resistant and then fail Flagyl later. Both clauses are on the patient-counseling block.
A leftover half-pack 'for the next abscess' is how both problems start. Leftovers are not a new prescription.
