01What the 2 g day is
Two grams of Flagyl in one day: once, or split as 1 g plus 1 g the same day. That is eight 250 mg tablets if someone builds 2 g from this strength. Do not invent a 'light' 250 mg once-daily STI course.
In later pregnancy, when a clinician still treats and alternatives have failed, the one-day course should not be used because it drives higher serum levels that reach fetal circulation. First trimester trichomoniasis is closed on the first-trimester probe.
02If a second trichomoniasis course is needed
When repeat courses are required, the insert wants four to six weeks between them and a new laboratory confirmation that the trichomonad is still there. Total and differential leukocyte counts should be made before and after re-treatment.
A leftover seven-day blister from spring is not that confirmation. Get a current smear or culture plan.
03How long serious anaerobic work runs
Usual duration is 7 to 10 days after IV start for most serious anaerobic infections. Bone and joint, lower respiratory tract, and endocardium may need longer. Adult oral math is 7.5 mg/kg every six hours, max 4 g per day.
That is not seven days of 250 mg three times daily unless the writer said so. Mixed aerobic infection still needs a second antimicrobial.
04What course length does not replace
Neither seven days nor a 2 g day replaces partner treatment when trichomoniasis is the diagnosis. The partner line is its own probe.
Finish whatever row was written. Feeling better on day three does not rewrite seven days. Finish the written days.
05What the seven-day 250 mg row is
Seven consecutive days, 250 mg three times each day. That is the multi-day trichomoniasis course on Flagyl. It can cover enough calendar time for a sexual contact to get treated, which is one reason the insert gives for preferring seven days in some patients.
Single-dose 2 g can help when the writer cannot rely on seven days of swallows, especially if that 2 g is given under supervision. The writer individualizes. You do not pick the row at the register.
06How long amebiasis runs
Acute intestinal amebiasis: 750 mg three times daily for 5 to 10 days. Amebic liver abscess: 500 mg or 750 mg three times daily for 5 to 10 days. Pediatric amebiasis is 35 to 50 mg/kg/24 hours in three doses for 10 days.
A 250 mg tablet only fits those rows if the directions say how many tablets make 750 mg. Drainage still sits next to drug for a liver abscess.
